Anthony J. Yedinak, Tony, 72, of Monrovia passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2008, at Washington County Hospital after a long and courageous battle against diabetes and heart disease. He was surrounded by his wife of 42 years Georgette Yedinak, daughter, Debbie Ridgely and son, Anthony M. Yedinak.
Born on February 9, 1936, in Swoyersville, PA, he was the son of the late Andrew and Margaret Remetz Yedinak. He was a technical writer for the Department of the Navy, receiving many outstanding awards of service and merit, retiring in 1994 from the Naval Surface Warfare Center, White Oak, MD after 30 years of service. Tony was a member of St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church in Urbana where he served as an usher, Eucharistic Minister and on several church committees.
He had a love for people and a passion for conversation. He enjoyed helping people with advice and listening to others. He had a multitude of friends who loved him dearly. His hobbies included attending flea markets, restoring antique furniture, woodworking, landscaping, and keeping up on current events. Most of all he treasured spending time with his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife and children are: son-in-law, Dean Ridgely of Mt. Airy, daughter-in-law, Melba Yedinak of Owings Mills; grandchildren: Delanie and Ashley Ridgely of Mt. Airy, and Shane Alexander Yedinak of Owings Mills; sister, Mildred Mokris of South Hill, VA and brothers: Joseph Yedinak and wife Marlene of Fishkill, NY and Andrew Yedinak and wife Lynn of Olney, MD.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 5-8 PM on Wednesday, September 3, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd. in Mt. Airy.
Services:
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 4 at St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church, 4103 Prices Distillery Road, Ijamsville, with Rev. Michael J. Jendrek as Celebrant.
Interment will be in Mount Saint Mary's Cemetery, Emmitsburg, MD.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church Building Fund, 4103 Prices Distillery Road, Ijamsville, MD 21754.
