Anthony Carretta

Mr. Anthony G. Carretta, 84, of Frederick, passed away peacefully Monday, May 31, 2010, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born Sept. 28, 1925, in Mount Vernon, N.Y., he was the son of the late Gaetano and Rose Carretta.
Anthony was a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and retired from the Department of Energy in 1989.
He is survived by his wife, Flavia Carretta, and their three children, Anthony Carretta Jr. and his wife, Jennifer, of Florida, Mary Carretta of Germantown, Michael Carretta and his wife, Sandra, of New Market; four grandchildren, Taylor, Kevin, Michael and Samuel; a sister, Rose and husband, Vincent Martine; and a brother, Thomas and wife, Edith Carretta.
A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 16, at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 112 E. 2nd St., Frederick. Visitation prior to service at 10 a.m. Interment will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 15, in Arlington Cemetery.

Anthony was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He and his fine Italian cooking will be greatly missed.
