Annie Perry

Mrs. Annie E. Perry, 95, of Mt. Airy, died Sunday, November 29, 2015 at her home with her family by her side. She was the loving wife of the late Lester J. Perry.

Born April 3, 1920 in Ruckersville, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Fannie Mae (Payne) Davis.

Annie was a homemaker, having raised 10 children. She also enjoyed working at the Mt. Airy Sewing Factory. She loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by seven children, Delores Knight and husband, Walter, of Monrovia; Jean Case of Woodsboro; Larry Perry of Woodsboro; Thomas Perry of West Virginia, Greg Perry of Mt. Airy; Debbie Smith and husband, Mike, of Mt. Airy; and Terri Shackelford and husband, Tony, of Jefferson; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren.

She also will be remembered by a special niece and nephew.

Annie was preceded in death by a sister, a brother; and three children, Barbara Stallings, James Roger Perry, and Douglas Carson Perry.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd., Mt. Airy. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 4 from the funeral home with Pastor Ernest Knight officiating.

Interment will follow in Marvin Chapel Cemetery. Serving as pall bearers will be her son-in-law, Michael Smith; and her grandsons, Michael Smith, Jr., Jason Smith, Larry Perry, Tom Perry and Jimmy Perry.
