Anne Louise Ortman Glover, a resident of Frederick, MD, died on September 2, 2009 at the age of 91. A native of Omaha, Nebraska, she was the exact middle child of 11 children of Edward Antony Ortman and Ellen Sweeney Ortman. She lived her final years being cared for by her children as she fought a brave battle against dementia and heart failure.
Anne was a devoted wife and mother. With her dear husband of 55 years, Chester Frank Glover, who died in 2000, she raised two children: Thomas Edward Glover and Patricia Anne Ten Eyck. She leaves 4 grandchildren from Tom and his wife Vicky: Marisol (Joseph) Oakley, Rebecca (Michael) Fraiser, Angelica McCollum, and Tomas Glover; and 7 grandchildren from Patricia and her husband Bill: Corita (Eric) Stull, Christine (Russell) Myers, William (Heather) Ten Eyck, James (Kathy) Ten Eyck, Kate(J.T.) Lynch, Rebecca (Joseph) Mack and Mary (Joseph) Palkovic. She leaves a total of 24 great grandchildren. Three loving sisters survive her: Margaret Smith and Elizabeth Sullivan of Nebraska and Rita Ortman of New Mexico.
She was preceded in death by seven sisters and brothers. In addition she leaves many nieces, nephews, and God children.
Anne left her home in Nebraska to come to Washington, DC in the late 1930's as one of the Government Girls recruited from all over the US prior to World War II. She met and fell in love with her life mate, Chet, at the Navy Department, and while he was away fighting in Europe, she worked tirelessly, and prayed unceasingly for Chet's safety and for the war to be over. She and Chet were married in July of 1945, and eventually settled in Wheaton, MD to raise their family. In later years, they relocated successively to Augusta, GA, Roanoke, VA and Stafford, VA.
Anne was Roman Catholic and took great pleasure in her Catholic friends and activities at St. Catherine Laboure parish in Wheaton. She was passionate about the welfare of her entire family, her original sisters and brothers, her own children and grandchildren, and all babies. She enjoyed the art of conversation, reading mysteries, writing poetry, doing crossword puzzles and cooking.
