Ms. Anne Elizabeth Brown, R.N.
Ms. Anne Elizabeth Brown, R.N., died on March 15, 2012 at Glade Valley Nursing Center. Born in New York, New York on January 20, 1935, she was the daughter of the late James W. Jr. and Sarah Janette Brown.
After graduating from St. John’s Episcopal Hospital School of Nursing in Brooklyn, New York in 1957, Anne lived and worked as a Registered Nurse in Brooklyn for more than 50 years, retiring in 2010. She was an active member of the Alumnae Association of St. John’s Episcopal Hospital School of Nursing and leaves many dear friends in the New York area.
Anne is survived by her sister, Jane B. Barger and husband Jim, of Ijamsville; two nieces, Jeannie P.Topper and husband Sam of Emmitsburg and Carey P. Staley and husband Don of New Market; and her nephew, Robert F. Phelps Jr. and wife Diane of Milton, Florida. She is also survived by three step-nieces; Judy Rose Seibert of Silver Spring, Sharon Wittmann of Dallas, Texas, and Debby Heyes and husband Andrew of Owings, Maryland; a step-nephew, Chip Barger of Martinsburg, West Virginia; and 12 grandnieces and grandnephews.
A memorial service will be held in New York City in late spring. In her honor, memorial contributions may be made to St. James’ Episcopal Church, 1307 N. Main Street, Mount Airy, MD 21754.
