Annamyra Ruppert

September 16, 1930 — May 11, 2021

Beloved and beautiful, a lover of her family, animals, crossword puzzles, and sculpting, Annamyra “Ann” Ruppert passed away on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at the age of 90. Wife of the late Bill Ruppert and mother to her five sons, Mike, Mark, Billy, Johnny, and Bobby and only daughter, Christie, Ann was adept in turning a blind eye to their mischief, rationing food, and loving unconditionally. Ann grew up in Washington, DC, married and began a family. The family moved to Silver Spring in 1957 and she later worked at Holy Cross Hospital. She discovered her passion for sculpting wood and stone, while taking classes at Montgomery College. Ann loved the sculpture community and she flourished as an artist, inspired by human and animal forms. She created numerous abstract pieces, which reside in art collections around the area and around the globe. Ann was so proud to share her art and she did so by teaching sculpture, first for Montgomery County Adult Ed and until recently in her basement studio.
Ann’s greatest passion in life was her family. As her children grew up, her family expanded, gifting her with two daughters-in-law, Maggie and Lisa, two sons-in-law, John and Jim, and nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Ann was ever present, showing up to every event from birthdays to graduations. Her joyful, optimistic attitude, her generous spirit and can-do approach defined her life and we were all abundantly blessed to be a part of it.
