Anna Mary Sanner

January 4, 1926 — July 28, 2014

Anna Mary Sanner, 88, of Homewood passed away suddenly at the Frederick Memorial Hospital on July 28, 2014.  She was born in Elbert, WV on January 4, 1926.  She was the daughter of the late Frank Las and Anelia Gowel Las and the wife of the late George R. Sanner, Jr. who predeceased her in December 1994.  She and her husband lived in Sabillasville, MD for many years. She was also predeceased by her son George R. Sanner, IV, her brother Frank Las and his wife Helen, her brother Stanley (Stash) Las, her sister Lillie Adamczyk and husband Walter.
She grew up in Gary, WV. Anna and her husband George were very active in the Fort Ritchie activities in the 70’s and 80’s. She also worked at the Mountain Gate restaurant in Thurmont for many years and was well known in her community.
She is survived by her sons: Theodore Sanner and his wife Shelly of Orlando, FL, John Sanner and his wife Michele of Portsmouth, NH; her grandchildren, Kristin Moaratty and her husband Christopher of Rochester, NH, Brian Sanner and his wife Lena of Portsmouth, NH, Leslie Wachter of Frederick, MD, Scott Sanner and his wife Sonia of Canberra, Australia, Sara Kessler and her husband Kyle, Jill Stanton and her husband Josh, Kari Sanner and her fiancé Chris all of Orlando, FL and many great-grandchildren.
In addition to her sons and family, she is survived by her beloved daughter-in-law, Diana M. Sanner, wife of the late George Sanner IV of Frederick, her brother, Brother Tadeus Las of Valatie, NY and her sister Helen Myers and husband David of WV.
She was an active member of St. Rita’s in Waynesboro, PA for many years. Anna will be remembered by her many friends from St. Rita’s especially her faithful friend, Paulette Nidel.  Most recently she faithfully attended St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church in Frederick.  She was a most loved and wonderful Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Mother-in-law.  She touched many lives throughout her life by her love and concern for others.  Anna will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
The family will receive Friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opposumtown Pike, Frederick, MD on Friday, August 1 from 3-6PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 2 at 10:30AM at St. Anthony’s Shrine Parrish at 16150 St. Anthony’s Rd, Emmitsburg, MD with Father Keith Boisvert officiating along with Father Robert Malagesi.
Interment will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Rt. 15. North, Frederick.
