Mrs. Anna Lee Thelma Burker, 90, of Boonsboro died Friday, March 24, 2017 at Fahrney-Keedy Memorial Home. She was the wife of the late William C. Burker who predeceased her on July 6, 1990. They were married for 45 years at the time of his death.
Born August 3, 1926 at Clevelandtown, near Boonsboro, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Martha Hutzell.
She worked at London Fog raincoat factory for 20 years until a stroke forced her retirement in 1984. Since July of 2004, she had been a member of Faith Christian Fellowship Church near Williamsport. She had been a Sunday School and Bible School teacher for 52 years. Additionally, Mrs. Burker was Chaplain of the Ladies Auxiliary in Sharpsburg for 19 years, a volunteer at Reeder Nursing Home for 18 years, and a member of the Senior Citizens at Keedysville since 1990.
She is survived by four sons and their wives, Ronald and Betty, Larry and Linda, Bobby and Reba, and Ellis (Duck) and Patty; 11 grandchildren; three step grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Madeline Hutzell; five brothers, Glenn Hutzell, Roger Hutzell, Eugene Hutzell; Leroy Hutzell (killed in WWII) and Bobby Hutzell; and one deceased grandchild, Bobby Jo Burker, who was killed in a car accident in 1989.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 30 from the funeral home chapel. Officiating will be the Rev. Ernest Witmer.
Interment will follow in Boonsboro Cemetery.
