Anna Weedon

July 30, 1921 — December 26, 2017

Anna K Weedon, 96, of Frederick, Md.  went home peacefully to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 26th, 2017 with her daughters holding her hands.  She was a loving wife to the late Oscar Kaywood Weedon who preceded her in death in 1983.
She was born in Adamstown, MD.  On July 30th 1921 and was the daughter of the late Wilford S. Weadon Sr. and Gertrude B Weadon.
Anna and her husband moved from Frederick Md to reside in Pittsburg, PA where they lived for over 30 years.  She was a beautician, seamstress and homemaker in her early years, and a loving care giver to her parents and husband.  Anna was a former member of the Eastern Star in Pittsburgh, PA.
Anna and her husband moved back to Frederick in 1969 where she became a devoted longtime member of Sunnyside New Life Community Church.  Anna served on the usher board, trustee board, kitchen and women’s ministries.  She was also the church mother for many years.   She was employed by the Frederick County Board of Education as a school bus driver and a aide for 38 years.  Anna loved all the children on the bus.  Her warm, sweet spirit made her a favorite amongst the kids.
She enjoyed cooking for her family.  There was always a meal available any day of the week to have family dinners.  She loved her dog, Kudo and made sure he had fresh Giant Eagle chicken for his every meal.  Anna and her sister Elsie had a very special bond.  They shopped, traveled, and did most everything together.
Along with raising her 2 daughters, her door always swung on welcome hinges.  Everyone was welcome in her home.  Anna opened her heart and home to many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Anna and her husband were foster parents in Pittsburgh, PA.  She received a governor’s citation for her outstanding foster care service in Maryland in 1977.  She was a member of the living legends for Frederick County which honors Frederick County residents over the age of 90.
Her memory will continue to live on through her beloved children; Roxanne Weedon-Lee (John), and Deana Dean Potts (Quincy); seven grandchildren Manisha (Komba), Malivay, Deon, Zykiah, Tyler, Jason; four great grandchildren, Caleb, Tatum, Landon, Anais.  Sister; Elsie V. Miller, Brother; Eugene G. Weedon.  She was predeceased by her brothers; Fulton D Weadon, Charles L Weadon, Wilford S Weadon Jr, Edward W. Weadon.  Sister; Ella Louis Jackson.  Two godsons; Douglas (Bo) Henderson, Tarnell (Tubby) Miller. She was also preceded in death by her best friend Grace Winstead of Pittsburgh, PA.
With great love and appreciation our Mother had wonderful caregivers; Barbara Thompson ,Leslie Ambush and her devoted sister Elsie Miller; The staff at Glade Valley rehabilitation center; Dr. Lev and the ICU staff at Frederick Memorial Hospital; Tonya at FMH service excellence team; and last but not least a wonderful nurse Blair Brewer who will forever be a cherished friend.
We rest assured that we gave you your flowers while you were with us. Mom, we miss you and will continue to do our best to make you proud. We will forever  love and honor you…..

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at the Thomas Tabernacle Holiness Church, 517 S. Market Street, Frederick, MD 21701.

A Celebration of Anna's life journey will follow at 12:00 noon.  Interment will be at Sunnyside Cemetery in Frederick.
