Anna L. Needy, 85, of Winchester, Virginia, entered the gates of heaven on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at her home.
Born on July 12, 1935, in Hagerstown, Maryland, she was the daughter of Reverend Joseph and Rachel Rowland Souders. Anna was very active within the church community during her lifetime and attended numerous churches in the area. Anna served in Prison Ministries since 1974, was actively involved with Samaritan's Purse, Operation Christmas Child, and Living Faith Fellowship. She enjoyed spending her time knitting hats for cancer patients, children, and those in need while at the Winchester Senior Center, but her heart was always focused on serving others and spreading the love of Jesus, a true ambassador for Christ. She worked over the years for various places, was a homemaker, elementary school playground assistant, independent businesswoman at Boonsboro Flea Market, and as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Charlottes Home Residential Facility.
She is survived by her sons, Ivan Gilbert Needy and wife Theresa and Wayne Ellsworth Needy and wife Kimberly; her sisters, Betty Souders Schwarz and Jenny Souders Wilt; grandchildren, Nathan, Isaac, Joshua, and Alisha Needy; great grandchild, Kaitlyn Needy. Anna was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Ellsworth Needy, her grandson Mark Needy, and her brother and his wife, Joseph and Marie Souders, Jr.
The family will receive friends from 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, MD 21713.
Due to current restrictions, the graveside service will be private. The family will plan to hold a celebration of her life at a later date.
