Mrs. Anna Cool Lewis, 83 of Thurmont, Maryland, passed away Friday, December 6, 2013 at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown. She was the wife of the late Leonard "Doc" Lewis.
Born January 25, 1930 In Fairfield, PA, she was the daughter of the late John William and Mary Riley Cool.
Mrs. Lewis was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. In earlier years she was employed at Claire Frock and also was a beautician at Wisoksey Beauty Shop. Anna loved spending time with her family and hosted the Cool Family Reunion for 40+ years. She enjoyed her weekly Tuesday morning “Church Breakfast Group” and flower gardening.
She is survived by her children Della Alexander and husband Gordon, Mark Lewis and wife Janet and Andrew Lewis and wife Laureen all of Thurmont, grandchildren Tom Cavey, Jason Cavey, Daniel Lewis, Christina Willtrout, Carla Brown, Angela Simpson, Michael Lewis and Matthew Lewis, twelve great grandchildren , a sister Mary Bentz of Blue Ridge Summit, PA, adopted son David cool of Gettysburg, PA, son-in-law William T. Cavey and sisters-in-law Lillian Angell, Shirley Runkles, Pauline Wetzel, Margaret Cool and Sonja Cool, and a brother-in-law Floyd McAfee. Many nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by a daughter Linda Cavey, great granddaughter Samantha Willtrout and Eleven siblings.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont on Tuesday, December 10, from 2-4 and 7-9:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, North Church Street, Thurmont at 11:30 am, Wednesday, December 11, 2013, with Father Lawrence Donohoo as celebrant.
Interment Blue Ridge Cemetery.
