Anna M. Jackson, 98, passed away December 23, 2023 at Tranquillity Assisted Living.
Anna was born October 17, 1925 to John Ezra and Mary Maude Delauter Mercer in Harmony Grove, and lived her entire life in Harmony Grove. Having grown up on the farm, she maintained a strong interest in farming. As a good farm girl, Anna was always happiest when she was working outdoors.
She was married to Ernest Kurtz Jackson for 62 years.
Anna graduated from Frederick High School and entered the workforce after marrying her husband, working several different jobs over the years. She also assisted her husband with the administration of his business, Jackson Electric. When her children were older, she began working for the Farmers Home Administration at the Department of Agriculture, where she spent many years helping farmers to obtain loans to support their farming operations.
She was a life-long member of the Frederick Church of the Brethren.
Anna is survived by her son Gary Jackson and his wife Georgeann Pesa Jackson and her daughter Carol Ann Greenwood. She is also survived by her sister Mildred E. Harrington, grandson Shaune Greenwood (wife ZieZie) and granddaughters Sarah Murray and Amanda Gibson. Anna is also survived by her great granddaughter Noelle Robinson and great grandsons Alexander (Sasha) Koulinkovitch and Logan, Deacon and Liam Greenwood.
She was predeceased her husband, Ernest, who was well known for his pet Brown Swiss Oxen, Homer and Albert. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Susan Elizabeth Jackson, her brother Grayson H. Mercer, sisters Leida I. Garst, Hilda L. Ausherman and Mary A. Biser.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 29, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD. 21702. Funeral services will be held at the Frederick Church of the Brethren at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday December 30, 2023. The family will receive friends immediately following the service for a light luncheon in the fellowship hall of the Frederick Church of the Brethren.
Interment will be held at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, following the luncheon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Frederick Church of the Brethren, or to a charity on one’s choice.
