Anna Virginia (Younkins) Crowl, 84, of Rohrersville, Maryland went to be with her Lord on Saturday, May 29, 2010 at the Washington County Hospital.
Born on January 22, 1926, she was the daughter of the late George and Evelyn V. (Carter) Younkins.
Anna and her husband, Ronald C. Crowl, were married on December 15, 1941 in a ceremony performed by her grandfather, Rev. Morris A. Younkins. Her husband preceded her in death on January 14, 1994.
Anna attended the Boonsboro High School and Hagerstown Junior College. As a teenager she was part of the Younkins Family Singers, who where often heard on the radio.
Mrs. Crowl was a life member of the Brownsville Church of the Brethren where she played the piano, the organ, sang on the choir and was a Deaconess.
She was a Past Grand Matron with the Olive Branch Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Throughout her adult life, Anna worked at Leiter Brother's, Pangborn Corporation, Oyler Construction Company, Keagy Real Estate, and the Beaver Creek Country Club. She retired in 1988 from Western Maryland Supply Company.
She is survived by her son, Vaughn D. Crowl and his wife Cindy of Rohrersville, Maryland; one grandson, Adam Crowl and his wife Aalya of Richmond, Virginia; and one granddaughter, Christianna Crowl Dicken of Los Angeles, California. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Benjamin Crowl.
Friends are invited to visit beginning at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
The family will also receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at the Brownsville Church of the Brethren, 1911 Rohrersville Road, Brownsville, Maryland, 21715, where a funeral ceremony will take place at 4:00 p.m.. Rev. Alan M. Smith will officiate. Burial will follow at the Brownsville Heights Cemetery after which a meal will be offered in the Fellowship Hall of the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Brownsville Church of the Brethren, c/o the Needy Family's Fund.
