Anna Burrier

Mrs. Anna Ruth Clem Burrier died on May 18, 2016.  Anna was born September 20, 1929, in Rocky Ridge, MD, the daughter of the late Harvey and Bessie Eckenrode Clem.  Anna grew up in Rocky Ridge and was a graduate of Emmitsburg High School.  On July 8, 1948, Anna married Norman Burrier in Salisbury, MD.  In 1955, Anna and Norman purchased their home in Rocky Ridge and they remained there the rest of their lives. Anna and Norman always looked forward to their many trips to Florida over the years where they enjoyed camping, fishing and visiting friends and relatives.

Anna was a homemaker most of her life.  She also had several part-time jobs after her children were out of school.  Anna was a member of Graceham Moravian Church and helped the church with their turkey and oyster dinners.  Anna also helped at many fundraisers for the Rocky Ridge Vol. Fire Company and enjoyed helping in the ham sandwich stand at the carnivals.  In her spare time Anna liked to crochet, garden, cook and bake.  She was known for her delicious red velvet cakes.   Most of all, Anna loved being a Mom and a Nanny to her children and grandchildren.

Anna is survived by two children: Connie Burrier and companion Rocky Henemyer, and Barry Burrier and wife, Debbie. Anna had three grandchildren:  Patrick Weagley, Deane Weagley and wife Patty and Laurie Atwell and husband, Tim.  Five great-grandchildren also survive: Ariel Weagley, MacKenzie Weagley, Carley Weagley, Abigail Weagley, and Colton Atwell.   Also surviving is Anna's best friend and sister-in-law, Helen Burrier of Detour and a very devoted niece, Frances Angleberger of Thurmont.  Anna was predeceased by husband Norman in 2008, a sister Margaret Sayler and a brother Harvey (Junior) Clem.
