Anna Bolling

Anna Bolling, died peacefully of natural causes at The Virginian, a health care facility in Fairfax, Virginia, on March 22nd. She was 100, ten days' short of her 101st birthday, and suffered from dementia.

Mrs. Bolling was born in 1909 in Dungannon, Virginia. She married Dr, Harlis Bolling in 1934, and raised her two sons on a farm near Kingsport in East Tennessee. She was a 1931 graduate of Milligan College in Johnson City, Tennessee, and she taught French and other subjects for many years in public schools in both Virginia and Tennessee. She was also very active in school, church and community affairs.

Widowed in 1973, Mrs. Bolling drove fifteen round trips from her Tennessee home to spend winters in Tucson, Arizona. She moved to Oakton, Virginia, in 1986 to be near her sons and their families. She resided at The Virginian for the past thirteen years.

Besides George and his wife Mary of Thurmont, Mrs. Bolling is survived by a younger son, Frank, and his wife Linda, of Annapolis. Mrs. Bolling had three grandchildren: Robyn Cochran of Centerville, Virginia; Bethany Menzies of Seattle, Washington; and Michael Bolling of Richmond, Virginia. She also leaves two great-grandsons, four step-grandchildren, and seven step-great grandchildren.

Services: Memorial services will be conducted in her home church in Tennessee, and she will be buried alongside her husband in southwestern Virginia.
