Ann Eckard

Ann Gibson Clatterbuck Eckard, 83, of Mount Airy, Md, passed from this life on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at her daughter's home in Mount Airy, MD.

Born on May 4, 1934 to the late William A. Clatterbuck and Martha Sisk Clatterbuck and was raised in Harrisonburg VA.

She graduated from Mt. Clinton High School and attended James Madison University and later obtained her degree from Shenandoah University.

She was a teacher most of her life, retiring from South Carroll High School in 1992.

She married the late Lee A. Eckard in 1956 and together they enjoyed traveling with the Terrapin Club, spending time with their children and grandchildren, traveling to their Ocean City Beach House and raising her English Sheep Dogs, most recently her faithful, Maggie.

She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, sparkling blue eyes and her joy in taking care of other people and making sure they always felt loved and accepted.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her daughter in law, Kim Eckard.

She is survived by her children, Lee Ann Asher, Ginger Nolan and her husband, Joe, Bill Eckard and his wife, Karianne; sister, Jane Lowery (Phil) of Harrisonburg, VA; grandchildren, Olivia Asher, Joey, Jackie, Amy Nolan, Nicole Griffith (Daniel), Chris Eckard (Katie), Justine Bender (Riley ), Alex Eckard (Nikki), Brian Eckard, William Eckard, Jr; She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and special friends, Joseph Gamble and Edward Asher.


The family will receive friends on Monday, July 31, 2017 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville, Mount Airy, MD.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Calvary United Methodist Church, 403 S Main St, Mt Airy, MD 21771. Burial will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Daybreak Adult Day Services,  7819 Rocky Springs Rd, Frederick, MD 21702 and Maryland Terrapin Club Scholarship Fund (http://www.terrapinclub.com)
