Angela Arleen Barone

Angela Arleen Barone, of Frederck MD, passed away in the early morning hours of Tuesday, October 29th. She was 85. Angela was born in New York, New York on September 23rd, 1939, to Vito and Josephine Sciacca. Angela was the oldest of 3 siblings. She’s survived by her sister Carol Christine Sanders and is now at peace with her younger brother William Anthony (Uncle Billy) Sciacca who passed away in 2012. Angela had three children, Angela Michele, Andrea and Mike along with her only grandson Luciano Giovanni Tauraso. If it hasn’t already happened, soon she will be reunited with her first-born child, Angela Michele who passed away in 2021.

Angela’s parents immigrated from Sicily in the early 1900s and resided in Cypress Hills, Brooklyn for many years. They lived on the first floor of a row house and her aunt and uncle’s family lived on the second floor. Angela used to reminisce about the early days in Brooklyn. She enjoyed a great childhood surrounded by family and good friends.

Angela went to St Angels Hall High School in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. She attended Good Council College and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in history. After College, Angela married Nicola Tauraso and soon after they had their first child (Angela Michele). After Michele was born, Angela moved to Kensington, MD where she had two more children, Andrea and Mike.

Angela was a full-time housewife and mother for many years. She flourished in that world, and she was great at it. She never complained and always put her family’s needs in front of her own. She was a fantastic gourmet cook, a supportive wife, a refined homemaker, and the most caring and loving mother that one could ever ask for. She always carried herself with class and style. She was as honest as the day is long and the commitment to her family never stopped.

Angela moved to Frederick, MD in 1972 and raised her children to young adulthood. In 1979 Angela moved to Long Island, New York and pursued her master’s degree in education. Angela stayed in New York for many years working as a Special Education Teacher in Dix Hills, New York. Angela loved her job working with handicapped kids. She had a gift of compassion and caring for others that was just grace sent down from God.

Angela cared for her late father, Vito Sciacca for many years until the day he died. Soon after in 2002, Angela moved back to Frederick and has been here ever since. She moved here to be with her children because they were always her greatest love. While in Frederick, Angela volunteered for many charities including, Select Seconds, The Community Action Center, Frederick Memorial Hospital and a handful of other places.

Angela was a devout Catholic and her faith was the bedrock of her character. She lived her life so she could help and support her family, her friends, and the less fortunate among us. When Angela lost her oldest Daughter Michele, she was a rock for our family. She remained strong and her faith never wavered by her loss.

Angela’s favorite person in the world was her only grandson, Luciano Giovanni Tauraso. She just loved that boy with all her heart. They had a great relationship and they were very close.

We will miss Angela very much. They don’t make them like that anymore. A great friend, an honest and humble lady, and a dedicated mother to her children, family and to God. Rest in peace.
