Andrew "Andy" Pryce

Andrew “Andy” Pryce, of Woodsboro, MD, age 41, passed away on Friday, June 16th, 2017 at home.  Andy was born on June 17th, 1975 in Westminster, MD.  He was the son of Richard Pryce, Fayetteville, PA and Bonnie Morgan, Thurmont.

Andy graduated from Walkersville High School in 1993.  He received an Associate Degree from Frederick Community College and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland.

At the age of 16, Andy joined the Walkersville Fire Company as a Jr. Volunteer Firefighter, which led to a life-long career and many lasting friendships.  At the time of his death, Andy was employed as a Captain with Frederick County Fire/Rescue.  Captain Pryce was a 19+ year veteran of Frederick County Fire/Rescue.  He started his career at the Emergency Communications Center in 1997 and transferred to Fire/Rescue services in 1999 where he remained until his death.  He was a member of the Frederick County Career Firefighter’s Association, IAFF local 3666.  .

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his 2 children, Paton, age 12, and Rylee, age 9, both at home, who were the joy and light of his life.  He is also survived by his sister, Kristen Pryce Croghan and husband, John, Gettysburg, PA, along with his nephew and niece, Sean and Kate Croghan, his step-father Robert Morgan, Thurmont, his former wife, Shannon Smith, Clemmons, NC, her parents, John and Peggy Mulvehill, Frederick and sister-in-law, Sarah Mulvehill, Hagerstown.  He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, William and Evelyn Paton, and his paternal grandparents, Richard and Eleanor Pryce.

The family will receive friends from 2-4pm and 7-9pm on Wednesday, June 21st, 2017 at Stauffer Funeral Home 1621 Opposumtown Pike, Frederick MD.  A celebration of Andy’s life will be held in the chapel at Stauffer Funeral Home on Thursday, June 22nd, 2017 at 11:00am. Pastor Mark Sandell will officiate. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
