Andrew Makrides, 64, of Frederick, Maryland, passed from this life on Monday, May 6, 2024.
Born on January 2, 1960, in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Constantine Makrides and Virginia (Nanos) Makrides.
Andrew was a 1977 graduate of Magruder High School in Rockville.
He was a professional and well-respected chef in New York City for many years, and became a personal chef once he returned to the Frederick area. He loved cooking, gardening and was an accomplished musician. He was a founding member of Saints Peter and Paul Orthodox Church.
Andrew was a co-owner of the former Rabbit's Foot and Lucas McCain's, both locally recognized Frederick establishments.
His great niece and nephews, JW, Maddie, and Cole, will forever hold dear the memories of their 'Uncle A'. He taught them valuable life lessons through cooking, gardening, and music. His farm and gardening companion, John Andrews, will continue to care for Andrews' gardens, ensuring his love and dedication to his family will never be forgotten.
His sister Stephanie transforms her immense grief into a celebration of her brother's selflessness and compassion, inspiring future family generations with stories of his loyalty, determination and boundless love. She will assure his memory lives on by continuing to nurture his gardens of herbs, vegetables and fruits and cooking heartfelt meals with the same devotion, enthusiasm and love.
He is survived by his sister, Stephanie Jordan; his brother, George Makrides; nephews and nieces, Spencer Ash, Ariana Andrews, Devon Makrides, and Katie Moran; as well as additional family members and special friends, Howard Feldman, Jay Britton, and Phil Adams.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sunday, May 12, 2024 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, MD.
A celebration of Andrew's life journey will take place at 11:00 am on Monday, May 13, 2024, from the funeral home chapel with the family receiving friends from 10-11. Deacon Debbie Williams will officiate. Interment will be private.
