Andrew John Hofmeister

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Andrew John Hofmeister,45, of Frederick, Maryland, on Thursday, June 13, 2024. Andrew was a friend to many, and his kind and generous spirit will live on in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him.

Andrew John Hofmeister was born in Rosedale, Maryland, on September 29, 1978. He graduated from Overlea High School in 1997. He was technical and good with his hands which is why he succeeded as an electrician for the Department of Commerce, where he worked for 17 years.

Andrew had a kind and gentle spirit but also a strong sense of justice and right from wrong. He had a special place in his heart for those who were less fortunate, and he saw people for who they were without judgment or bias. He loved his Ravens, his video games, having a good time with friends, and his loving wife, Sandra. 

Andrew met his wife and the love of his life, Sandra Hofmeister, in 2008. They were married in 2014. Over the years, he proved to be an upright man, a loyal friend, and a proud husband. Andrew also had struggles. He had a rare disease called Gitelman syndrome, which caused him chronic pain, and most recently worked hard to overcome the effects of a stroke that he had in April of 2024. May he struggle no more. 

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Hofmeister; his parents, John and Emma Hofmeister; two siblings, Johnny Hofmeister III and Jennifer Lassen; and his four nephews, Joshua, Tyler, Trent, and Arne. He was also beloved by his aunts, uncles, many cousins, and close friends. 

A visitation to commemorate Andrew’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.

In place of flowers, Sandra has requested donations be made in Andrew’s name to the National Organization of Rare Disorders.
