Anderson “Andy” Terhune died peacefully Friday morning, Feb 21, 2014 in Frederick MD. He was born on June 21, 1914 in Passaic, N.J.
Andy was pre-deceased by his wife Connie, in 2012. He is survived by his son Bryan Terhune Sr. of Blairstown N.J. and daughter Linda Terhune Bjorndal of Frederick MD.
He was grandfather to eight grandchildren: Jennifer Taylor, Elizabeth Occchipinti, Bryan Terhune Jr. and Robert Terhune. Also to Lori Nichols, Emily Bjorndal, Eric Bjorndal and Evan Bjorndal. He was great grandfather to 14.
Andy was a lifelong member of the Boy Scouts of America having risen to the post of Assistant Scout Master. He was also a self-taught sailor who built his own sailboat and later joined the crew of a freighter sailing to Africa.
He served in WWII as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was stationed in England for the duration of the war.
He built his own home in Clifton N.J. residing there from 1947 to 1980 after which he retired to Surfside Beach S.C. In 2003 he moved to Frederick MD.
He was a solid Bible believing Christian who actively participated as a Sunday school teacher and elder. He led his family to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
He began his hobby of oil painting in the mid-1980’s and has produced over 400 works of art. Funeral services will be held at Newbaker’s Funeral Home, Rt. 94, Blairstown, N.J. on Saturday March 1st at 11am. A Memorial Service will be held at South End Baptist Church in Frederick on Friday Feb 7th at 3pm.
