Mr. Alvey W. Fleming, 94, of Mt. Airy, passed away on November 27, 2012 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Virginia Stull Fleming, who predeceased him in 2002.
Born November 3, 1918 in Frederick County, he was the son of the late George and Maggie Burdette Fleming.
Alvey was a lifelong resident of the Ridgeville/Mt. Airy area. He worked at the Westminster Butte Knit Co. for many years as a presser. He loved to garden and mow grass.
He was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Mt. Airy.
Alvey was the last of his immediate family.
He is survived by nieces and nephews, Clifford Rippeon, Darlene Dorsey, Eugene Emerson, Debbie Keller and Steven Oden; and one sister-in-law, June S. Oden and husband, Steve.
Graveside services will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 1 at Pine Grove Cemetery in Mt. Airy. Officiating will be Rev. Stephen Larsen of Calvary UMC.
Arrangements are being handled by Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A. of Mt. Airy.
