Allan Jeffrey "Jeff" Athey, 66, of Woodsboro, entered into eternal rest on Friday, March 8, 2024, with family by his side.
Beloved son, brother, father, and grandfather, Jeff was born March 23, 1957 in Frederick, Maryland, to the late Joseph W. Athey and Madora L. (Miskell) Athey.
Jeff was a valuable employee of the Southland Corporation for more than 25 years, having served as a manager for several High’s Dairy stores in and around Frederick. After retiring from High’s, he worked for more than 23 years for Frederick County Public Schools where he was a loyal and dedicated custodian at Glade Elementary School in Walkersville until his retirement in 2021. Jeff was a friend to all.
His passions included listening to music, playing drums, shooting pool, watching Impractical Jokers on TV, completing jigsaw puzzles, driving his classic Dodge Super Bee and enjoying good food and the company of friends and family. He enjoyed mostly just being at home, although he enjoyed a trip to El Paso, Texas a couple years ago to visit his son and family.
Jeff is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Rob Dornberger and his son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Monique Athey; grandchildren, Bobby Parrish, Marinda Demers, Jeremy Athey, Ryan Athey, Logan Athey and Olivia Athey; and great-granddaughter, Mabel Demers. Also surviving are three brothers, Craig Athey, Gary Athey and wife, Dana, David Athey and wife, Vanessa; one sister, Brenda Allen; and steadfast and dearest friends, Diane Houser and Debi and Blair Combs.
Friends may call at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 22, 2024, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, Maryland, where services will begin at noon. The Rev. Dr. Eric T. Myers, pastor of Frederick Presbyterian Church, will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made, in Jeff’s name, to Frederick Health Hospice or any other charitable organization of one’s choosing.
