Alice {Snyder} Nickle Struck

December 29, 1932 — December 6, 2006

Mrs. Alice (Snyder) Nickle Struck, 73, a longtime resident of Walkersville, and more recently a resident of Burgess, VA, died on Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at her home in Walkersville.

She is survived by her husband of 12 years, Robert L. Struck. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Roland A. (Al) Nickle, Jr., in 1990. They were married for nearly 38 years.

Born in Germantown, MD on December 29, 1932, she was the daughter of Marjorie A. (Benson) Snyder and the late James Jacob Snyder.

She was a graduate of Gaithersburg High School. In her earlier years, she was employed by the C&P Telephone Company. Later, she worked as a receptionist and company mom for Digital Systems Corporation. She was a co-founder of the N&N Candy Company, where she made candy with the candy ladies for many years.

Mrs. Struck was a very dedicated member of Walkersville United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir. She was a member of the Walkersville Homemakers Club. She also was an active volunteer with the Walkersville area schools and the Glade Valley Athletic Association.

She will be remembered for being a great mom. That's really all she wanted to be recognized for in life - being the best mom and grandmom.

Miss Alice possessed a warm smile and was quick to make friends. She said she was extremely blessed to be part of such a loving family, and to have an abundance of close friends, many of whom were like family to her. She loved the game of baseball and followed the Orioles closely. She also enjoyed playing cards with her card party friends.

She is survived by a son, Scott Nickle and wife Jenny of Elkton; a daughter, Mary Ann Filler and husband Kevin of Gettysburg, PA; a sister, Ann Ferguson and husband Merle of Gaithersburg; two brothers, James J. Snyder, Jr. and wife Lois of Laytonsville; and John B. Snyder and wife Dorothy of Gaithersburg; a stepson, Robert M. Struck and wife Kathy of Mt. Pleasant; a stepdaughter, Eleanor Ann Peiffer and husband John of New Port Richey, FL; five grandchildren, Lauren Nickle, James Nickle, David Filler, Daniel Filler and Bradley Filler; four stepgrandchildren, Katherine Struck, Kayla Struck, Johnny Peiffer and Jessica Peiffer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
