Alice Mae Ecton Drake, age 81, a resident of Ravenwood Lutheran Village in Hagerstown, and formerly of Keedysville, MD, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, at Washington County Hospital with her family and friends by her side.
Born April 21, 1927 at Antietam Furnace, MD, Alice was a daughter of the late Norman and Nina Mae Ebersole Ecton.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Richard Gallaher, who was killed while fighting in World War II, and William Lewis Drake.
Alice was a retired employee of Washington County Hospital and had also been employed with Caring Hands in the Boonsboro area.
She was a member of Antietam Church of God.
Alice is survived by two daughters, Barbara J. Hammond and husband Arthur of Hagerstown, and Billi Powers and husband Hap of Clear Spring, MD; four grandchildren, Scott D. Hammond and wife Debbie of Clear Spring, Kevin L. Hammond and wife Olivia of Waynesboro, PA, and Amy N. Schaeffer and Ryan M. Schaeffer, both of Clear Spring; three brothers, Theodore Ecton of Funkstown, Atlee Ecton of Hagerstown and Roger Ecton of Antietam Furnace; two sisters, Isabelle Fauble of Hagerstown and Lorraine Churchey of Antietam Furnace; five great-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Virginia Ingram, and five brothers, Tom Ecton, Bruce Ecton, Richard Ecton, Harold Ecton and John Ecton.
Funeral services will be held 7:30 P.M. Monday at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home in Boonsboro. The Rev. R. Thomas Fralin Jr. will officiate. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.
