Mr. Alfred Raymond "Al" Taylor, 73, of Walkersville died Monday, July 27, 2015 at Kline Hospice House. He was the loving husband of Susan C. Taylor for 47 years.
Born June 25, 1942 in Lincoln Township, PA, he was the son of Russell M. Taylor of Ohio and the late Helen Hoover Holsopple.
He was a 1960 graduate of Biglerville High School in Biglerville, PA. He received an Associate of Science degree in 1982 from Rivier College in Nashua, NH. Al worked as a technical writer. He enjoyed sailing, photography, computers and vacationing in Virginia.
In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by his son, Michael Robert Taylor of Walkersville; his sister, Naomi Jean Athorn and husband, Robert, of Lebanon, PA; his aunts and uncles, Cyril and Cathy Hoover of Mt. Airy; Orville and Mary Hoover of Alum Bank, PA; Arthur Taylor of Hagerstown; and Shirley Carey of Fayettville, PA; two brothers, Mark Holsopple and wife, Melissa, of Red Lion, PA, and Terry Holsopple and wife, Jodi, of Gardners, PA; eight half-sisters and half-brothers; a sister-in-law, Kay DeHaven and husband, Alan, of Berwick, PA; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Al was predeceased by two half-sisters; one aunt; several uncles; and two cousins.
A Celebration of Life service will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, with Rev. Tim May officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following services.
