Alex Kennedy

Alex Martin Kennedy, 21, of Thurmont passed away suddenly on December 13, 2016. Born June 29, 1995, he was the son of Mark and Amy Kennedy, brother of Megan Claggett and husband Matt and Uncle to Jordyn and Kennedy.  He was the grandson of Mike and Kay Kennedy and the nephew of Buddy and Stefanie Martin and Courtney Kennedy and Kevin Green. He also leaves behind many cousins and friends.

Alex graduated from Catoctin High School in 2013. His passion was baseball and he pitched the Cougars to their first state championship in 2013. Alex earned All-State and Player of the Year honors in his senior season. He was selected to play in the Brooks Robinson All-star classic at Camden Yards.  He also played in the Heartland Classic in Oklahoma. He earned all-tournament honors in Perfect game tournaments in Fort Myers, FL and Atlanta, GA.  In addition to baseball, Alex played CYA, travel, and high school basketball.  Alex was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and the Washington Redskins. He enjoyed listening to music, but most of he loved to spend time with family and friends, and our yearly family vacations to Myrtle Beach. To all who were blessed to know him, Alex brought love, joy and laughter. Alex will be missed but will never be forgotten.  He will always be in our hearts.

Alex was preceded in death by his grandfather, James Martin Jr, and Grandmother Sally Gardner, and Great Grandparents James and Janet Martin and Martin and Ethel Kennedy.

The family will receive family and friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home in Thurmont on Monday, December 19th from 2-4 and 6-8.  Funeral services will be at the Stauffer Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 20th at 10:00 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catoctin High School Boosters Baseball - CHS, 14745 Sabillasville Rd, Thurmont, MD 21788 or Frederick Rescue Mission, 419 West South Street, Frederick, MD 21702.

Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Pall Bearers are Buddy Martin, Matt Claggett, Matt Myers, Tristan Canter, Seth Schubert, Jon Carroll and Chris Yingling.
