Alex Cartwright, Jr.

Mr. Alex Van Cartwright, Jr, 64, of Myersville died suddenly on Monday, March 20, 2017 at his home. He was the loving husband of Jane D. Leith Cartwright for 45 years.

Born May 15, 1952 in Kankakee, IL, he was the son of Alex V. Cartwright, Sr. of Hoopeston, IL, and the late Wanda (Schultz) Cartwright.

Alex retired from Montgomery County Department of Transportation after 35 years of service as a certified master mechanic.

He was an avid fly fisherman and gardener. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by two sons, Christian A. Cartwright and family, Roberta and Braxton; and Patrick A. Cartwright and wife,Wendy; granddaughter, Madison; two siblings, Tim Cartwright of Ashland, VA, and Tammy Greene of Norfolk, VA; step-mother, Shigeko Cartwright; father in law, Franklin Leith of Frederick; two brothers-in-law, Kenneth Leith of Bentonville, AR, and Gary Leith of Frederick; two nieces, Lauren Cartwright and Nicole Maluso; a nephew, Tim Cartwright, Jr., and several great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to his mother, he was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Frances Leith; and a niece, Courtney Cartwright.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 24 from the funeral home chapel.

Interment will be private.
