Aletha Grant

December 28, 1938 — July 14, 2019

Aletha (Louise) Grant, 80, of Hagerstown, Maryland, passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2019 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of 52 years to the late Ronald Lee Grant.

Born on December 28, 1938, in South Bend, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Louise and Robert McCarthy. Louise was a longtime member of St. James Catholic Church in Boonsboro.

A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Louise was a homemaker and was happiest spending time with her family. She had a knack for organization and was a bookkeeper for various small businesses throughout her lifetime. Louise’s love for the Lord was evident in her everyday life. She had a caring heart and spent time in daily prayer never forgetting a family member or friend in need. Her witty sense of humor that always kept everyone laughing will be missed the most.

Louise is survived by two sons, Scott E. Grant and wife Lisa of Knoxville, Maryland, and Robert J. Grant and Laurie O'Connell and her children Kate and Annie Burns, all of Sharpsburg, Maryland; two granddaughters, Leslie Grant Stillitano and husband Matthew of Middletown, Maryland, and Alexis Grant Hall and husband Michael of Frederick, Maryland; two great grandchildren, Benjamin and Claire and one on the way; one sister, Denyse Horton and husband Jim; one brother Patrick McCarthy; and her beloved dog, Nellie.

The family will receive friends from 1pm-2pm on Friday, July 19, 2019 at St. James Catholic Church, 121 N. Main Street, Boonsboro, MD 21713. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2pm at the church. Interment will follow in Boonsboro Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Frederick Memorial Hospital, third floor (medical surgical unit) or fourth floor (cardiac care unit), 400 West 7th Street, Frederick, MD 21701.
