Alberta R. Smith

Mrs. Alberta R. Smith, 78, of Mt. Airy, died on Wednesday December 30, 2009 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Roy Elden Smith who died in 2007.

Born on August 14, 1931 in Falls, PA., She was the daughter of the late Albert Sickler and Frema Clark Sickler.

Mrs. Smith enjoyed camping, needlepoint, search-a-word puzzles and spending time with her family. On many occasions she was the family mediator and held the family together.

Mrs. Smith worked for about 15 years at the Mount Airy Pants Factory, and retired from 10+ years of employment at the Pleasant View Nursing Home in Mount Airy, caring for the sick and elderly.

Surviving are eight children Shirley R. White and husband Ronald , Donna J. Phebus all of Mt. Airy, Roy E. Smith of Littlestown, PA, Barbara A.
Deslatte and husband Randy of Taneytown, Earl W. Smith and Donald R. Smith both of Mt. Airy, Susan Redmond of Gettysburg, PA and Charles A. Smith of Mt. Airy. Eighteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. Two sisters Elsie Ramage and Louise Lewis both of Pennsylvania.

She was preceded in death by a grandson Nicholas Smith and 3 sisters Martha from MD, Betty and Lois both from PA.

Visitation: The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd., Mt. Airy, MD., Sunday January 3, from 2-4 & 7-9pm

Services: Services will be held at the funeral home Monday, January 4, at 11:00am with Rev. Elkridge Moses officiating.
Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
