Alberta Weant

Mrs. Alberta Lillian Weant, 84, of Thurmont, died Friday, December 2, 2016 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Richard William Weant, Sr., who predeceased her on March 17, 2007.

Born July 13, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Albert C. Smith and Ethel (Forrest) Smith.

Mrs. Weant was a former member of Thurmont Amvets Post 7 auxiliary, Thurmont American Legion, and South Mountain Rod and Gun Club.

She is survived by daughter, Diane Weant of Surfside Beach, SC; one son, Richard William Weant, Jr., and wife, Elizabeth, of Thurmont; six grandchildren, Scott William Sweeney (Amy Harrison), Lacey Nicole Lopez  (husband Richard Lopez), Kara Noelle Eyler (Jeff Adamczyk), Ian Patrick Weant, Sean Matthew Weant, Colleen Elizabeth Weant; three great grandchildren, Logan Baird, Mia Sweeney, and Emersyn Baird; and three sisters, Geniveve Reckley, Margaret Flohr, and Betty Lou Stambaugh (husband Lyman Stambaugh).

Mrs. Weant was predeceased by a sister, Anna Mae Fox.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 9, 2016 from the funeral home with Rev. Tim May officiating.

Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Cemetery.
