Alberta Stymiest Reed was born in Baltimore, Maryland. She died on October 13, 2017 at Homewood Nursing Home in Frederick, Maryland. She was the daughter of the late James Albert Stymiest and Alice Virginia Whitlock Stymiest, both of Hagerstown, Maryland.

She leaves to mourn her only child, Robin Reed Correia (Robert) and her granddaughter, Alexandra Correia of Woodsboro, Maryland; her brother Stephen G. Stymiest (Sonja) of Frederick, Maryland; her sister Grace S. Johnson (Chester) of Annapolis, Maryland; and the "children of her heart," Susan Breithaupt of Dunellen, Florida, and Eugene and Erline Burgess of Mount Airy, Maryland .

She also leaves five nieces: Nicole Bookout (John), Jennifer Stymiest, Julia Pumroy (Matthew), Marilyn Kirkley (William), and Evelyn Spitzer; one nephew, Eric Abbott; as well as numerous great-nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Reed was very involved in the Frederick community, serving as the President of the Frederick County chapter of the United Way and as a board member of the local YMCA. She was the past president of the Frederick County Personnel Association, and was an active member of the Frederick Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Mrs. Reed was the widow of Ralph Edward Reed and will be buried beside him in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro, Pennsylvania.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at the Frederick Seventh-day Adventist Church, 6437 Jefferson Pike, Frederick, Maryland. Friends and family are invited to a reception immediately following the service.
