Albert Gorman Butler, II, 57, a lifelong resident of Walkersville, died Monday, March 31, 2025 at his home.
Albert was born May 12, 1967, the second of three children, to Albert and Janet Butler. He graduated from Walkersville High School in 1985 and later chose to raise his own family in Walkersville. He will be remembered for his calm demeanor, fun sense of humor, and devotion to his wife, children, and family. Great-nieces and nephews will miss Uncle Albert playing with them along with his ability to always make them laugh.
In 1987, Albert began his career with the Maryland State Police. Starting as a cadet at the New Market Scale House, he graduated from the police academy in 1988 and was later assigned to the Valley, Frederick, College Park, and Rockville Barracks. He spent a significant part of his time at the Frederick Barrack serving his hometown as Resident Trooper, where he met his wife, Suzanne, in July of 1998. After achieving the rank of Sergeant in 2004, Albert retired from the Frederick Barrack in 2009.
Anybody who knew Al would agree he lived and experienced every minute of life. He and his wife were always on the go, often sparking a bit of envy as they posted their adventures on social media. Together they enjoyed many Royal Caribbean cruises, NASCAR races, and cheering from the stands for their beloved Orioles, Ravens, and Terps. Al never passed up the opportunity for a good tailgate party with a cooler full of his favorite Miller Lite in tow. During retirement, Al enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles, socializing at his favorite restaurants in Downtown Frederick and relaxing beach vacations to Key West, FL, Aruba, Pawleys Island, SC, Jamaica, and the Outer Banks, NC.
In addition to his wife and parents, Al is survived by his son, Daniel, and girlfriend, Carley Turner; daughter, Emily; sister, Cheryl, and husband, Brad Young; brother, David, and wife, Cindy Butler; nieces and nephew, Jessica, and husband, Mark Pecor, Brittany, and husband, Chris Pirrone, Rachel Young, Ash (Natalie) Butler, Emma Stream, Evan Stream, Ella Edwards, and Everly Rice; great-nephews and nieces, Connor, Claire, Nora, Camden, and Christian; sister-in-law, Mary, and husband, Jake Turska; brothers-in-law, Michael, and wife, Shannon Stream, Brendan and wife, Carey Rice, and James Rice.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, with the funeral service immediately following with burial at Glade Cemetery in Walkersville. Afterwards, family and friends are invited to a luncheon at Walkersville Vol. Fire Dept., 79 W. Frederick Street in Walkersville.
Suzanne and the Butler family wish to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Frederick Health Hospice, especially Ari and Patty, for their kindness and compassionate care over the past few weeks.
