Alan Neil Yeater passed away at the age of 78 on Friday, June 21, 2024 at Ridge Overlook Assisted Living in Westminster, where he was a resident.
Born July 21, 1946 in Lewistown, PA, Alan is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Lois Yeater. He was the husband of Gerlinde Pflaumer-Yeater.
Alan went to Penn State University, PA and ROTC, he was a Captain in the U.S. Army for 5 years and served in Vietnam.
Alan was a Baltimore City Police Sergeant and retired after 30 years. Alan was a member at the VFW in Mount Airy, where he served as a Commander and Chaplain. He was also very active in many military organizations.
He is survived by his wife, his brother, Dennis and wife Judy Yeater niece Amy McChillan, stepson Neal Cox and wife Ruthie; step-grandchildren, Kristie Guyton, Blair Simmons, Wesley Cox, and Sarah Cox; his brother-in-law, Wulf-Heinz Pflaumer and family in Germany.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 27 from Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd, Mt. Airy, with the family receiving friends from 10 to 11 a.m.
Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Mount Airy.
