Agnes Zimmerman

February 10, 1923 — February 19, 2017

Agnes Valentine Zimmerman 94 of Mt Pleasant Maryland passed from this life on Sunday February 19, 2017 at her home.
Born on February 10, 1923 near Keysville in Frederick County, she was the daughter of Edgar Allen Valentine and Sara Catherine (Baumgardner) Valentine.
She was married to Kenneth Robert Zimmerman for 54 years, who predeceased her in December 2010.
Agnes was a 1940 graduate of Emmitsburg High School.  She graduated from the University of Maryland School of Nursing with a degree in Community Health.
During her career as a registered nurse with the Frederick County Health Department she saw services for public health care greatly expand.  She also served on the board of directors of The Scott Key Center.  The nurses she graduated with and worked with had a very strong bond and these friends kept in touch and supported each through calls, visits and travels.
Her roots as a farm girl remained with her through her life.  Looking out the window of her home was like being in the middle of a wildlife sanctuary.  She loved feeding and watching hundreds of birds daily.  She always made sure the wildlife had enough to eat, to keep them safe, and on her side of the road.  She also had a great fondness for her cats with several buildings on the property to keep them safe, warm, well fed and protected.
She was also and avid gardener with flower beds throughout the property.  She could name every variety and tell you just where the seed or plant came from.
Agnes is the the last surviving member of her immediate family.  She is predeceased by her four brothers Clarence Samuel, Jacob Elmer, Ralph, Edgar Allen Jr and four sisters Helen Stunkle, Mary Fitz Gartrell, Rachael Bostian Myers and Evelyn Valentine.
She will be fondly remembered by her extended family, friends, neighbors and caregivers who enjoyed listening to stories of travels and experiences of life here in Frederick County.
There will be a memorial service and inurnment at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
