Mrs. Agnes B. Smallwood, 100, of Petersville, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Charles T. Smallwood Sr.; they married on September 29, 1938.
Born on November 7, 1917 in Sunnyside, MD, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Daisy (Wood) Weedon. She was the last of her siblings. Agnes was a successful self-employed housekeeper, working for many well-known doctors, lawyers and businesses in the Brunswick and Frederick areas. She was a devoted member of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Petersville and was a member of Living Treasures. She was very dedicated to her family.
She is survived by her sons, Charles Jr. and wife Elaine, and Joseph Smallwood; daughters, Shirley Moore and husband John, and Linda Fisher all of Petersville. She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; brother-in-love Hiram Smallwood and family of CA; sisters-in-love, Barbara Weedon of Emmittsburg and Barbara Weedon of NY.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by daughter, Anna Weedon; grandson, Gary Moore; great grandsons, Tyris Toms and Eric Galloaway and nephew Eric Smallwood. She is also preceded by her siblings, Richard (Mildred), Lee (Louise), Robert (Rebecca), Eugene, Joseph (Eula) and Dawson (Grace and Amanda) Weedon; Calista Hackey (Marshall), Anna Weedon, Catherine Sappington (Charles), Willa “Ada” Thomas (Joseph); and in-loves, Clara Scott (Ralph), Ruther Henderson (Richard), Stewart Smallwood (Mammie) and Ivy Smallwood.
The family will receive friends from 5-9pm on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 1100 N. Maple Ave. Brunswick, MD.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10am on Friday, October 26, 2018 at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church, 4231 Catholic Church Road, Knoxville, MD 21758.
Agnes will be laid to eternal rest in the church cemetery next to her husband.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the nurses and doctors on 3G, especially Dr. Stern, they would also like to thank the staff at Brunswick Medical Center and all those who came to visit Agnes in her time of illness.
