William Frederick Kuster, 95, of Leesburg, VA, died Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at Country Meadows of Frederick.
Born July 27, 1921 in Stadtoldendorf, Germany, he was the son of the late Johanna Dorries and Frederick "Fritz" Kuster.
He served honorably from 1943 to 1946 in the United States Army Air Corps and was a WWII Veteran.
William was a graduate of Dewitt Clinton High School, Bronx, NY, the Aeronautical College and Alveney Dramatic School of Acting. He worked the job of his dreams at Pan American World Airways for 30 years. William was known for his great love of worldwide travel and of his family. He attended the Lutheran Missouri Synod and The Victory House, Purcellville, Va.
William loved all things aeronautical, enjoyed traveling the world vacationing with his first and only love, Lydia. Bill spent his many years of retirement working with his hands, renovating his home, reading about history, and telling his treasured grandchildren and great grandchildren his real-life adventures behind the many unique artifacts that filled their home. He will be remembered most of all for his wholehearted love and affection for his beloved wife of 73 years. Bill was a strong man, and lived as if he would be around forever. At 95, he still wanted to drive, planned to cross country ski and take his grandkids sledding. His fortitude and dignity, even in the face of physical pain in these last few months, is an inspiring legacy of strength for the family.
He is survived by his loving spouse of 73 years, Lydia Kuster; his two daughters, Joanne Koopalethes of Virginia and Lorraine Herr of Oregon; four grandchildren and twelve wonderful great-grandchildren.
Pre-deceased by his son, Lawrence William Kuster. and his only sibling, his brother, Albert Kuster.
Military services at the Arlington National Cemetery will be announced at a later date.
