William “Bill” Edward Kahlert, 85 of New Market, MD passed away on Monday, August 8, 2011 at his home. He was the husband of the late Yvonne Kahlert who passed away in 2005. They were married for 55 years.

Born September 25, 1925 in Minneapolis, Minnesota he was the son of the late William and Bessie Kahlert.
Mr. Kahlert was an active member of the Central Chapel Methodist Church in New Market, MD. He served in the US Navy from 1943 to 1945.

He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Mr. Kahlert was co-founder and past CEO of Evapco, Inc. The corporate headquarters are located in Taneytown, Maryland. Evapco, Inc. is recognized today as a worldwide leader in the manufacture of evaporative cooling equipment.

He previously served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Greater Baltimore Medical Center, as the Director of the Baltimore Regional American Red Cross, and Chairman of the Blood Board.

Mr. Kahlert was a very giving and generous man. He contributed to many different organizations and charities.
He was an avid boater, bridge player and golfer and he enjoyed traveling in his younger years. He had a great love for his poodles.

He is survived by his son, Greg William Kahlert and wife Roberta, a daughter, Lauren Elizabeth Fissel, three grandchildren, Heather Donaldson and husband Dave, Scott Kahlert and Alissa Wherley, four great grandchildren, Hannah Donaldson, Daniel Donaldson, Vera Donaldson and Ravina Wherley.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 17th at 11:00AM at the Calvary United Methodist Church, 403 South Main Street, Mt. Airy, MD with Rev. Jerry Cline officiating.

A reception will immediately follow services at the church.
