William Hanger Jr.

William L. Hanger Jr., 90, of Boonsboro, MD, passed away on April 21, 2018 after a short illness. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Betty A. Hanger.
Born on October 5, 1927 in Staunton, VA he was the son of the late William and Pearl Hanger. William served in the United States Merchant Marine Corps during WW II. Following his service, he worked as a carpenter and was active and held several offices in the Carpenter’s Union Local 1590. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Shirley Barton (Roger) of Walkersville, MD, Susan Rummel (Paul) of Boonsboro, MD, and William L. Hanger III (Linda Day) of Galway, NY; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one great great grandson and son-in-law, Ellery "Butch" Brodsky. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Brodsky of Wye Mills, MD.
The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date.
