Welty Nicodemus, Jr.

December 9, 1927 — March 20, 2015

Welty C. Nicodemus, Jr., 87, of Boonsboro, Maryland, passed from this life on Friday, March 20, 2015 at the Veterans Administration Center in Martinsburg, West Virginia.

Born on December 9, 1927, in Keedysville, Maryland, he was the son of the late Welty C. and Mary F. (Main) Nicodemus.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Genevieve M. (Mose) Nicodemus, on August 15, 2005.

He was a veteran of the United States Army having served in the 2nd Infantry Division ("Indianhead") during World War II.

Welty had been an employee of the Western Maryland Railroad, and retired from Pangborn.

He was a member of the International Association of Machinists and attended church at Faith Christian Fellowship in Williamsport, Maryland.

He is survived by one brother, Frank E. Nicodemus of Keedysville; his niece, Dollie Matalon of Landenberg, Pennsylvania; and many other nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Donald L. Nicodemus.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro. Rev. Mike McNamee will officiate.  Final resting place ceremonies will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Sharpsburg with military honors rendered by the Clopper-Michael American Legion Post 10 from Boonsboro.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at the funeral home.
