W. Scott Snavely

May 18, 1960 — February 2, 2013

William S. "Scott" Snavely, 52, of Keedysville, Maryland, grew his wings on Saturday morning, February 2, 2013, surrounded by his loving family and friends, at his home.

Born on May 18, 1960, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, he is the son of Kathryn A. "Peggy" Markman and her husband Sherwin J. of Rock Hall, Maryland and Gerald H. Snavely and his wife, Delores of Westeminster, Maryland. Scott is also survived by his father-in-law, Gerald M. McAfee of Keedysville.

Scott was a 1978 graduate of Seneca Valley High School in Germantown, Maryland.

Upon graduation from high school, Scott enlisted in the United States Air Force.

Scott owned and operated W.S. Snavely Plumbing in Keedysville.

He thoroughly enjoyed sports. Scott coached his children in softball and baseball along with being their #1 fan in volleyball and football. He was a season ticket holder of the Washington Redskins for several years and enjoyed going to the games with his wife, children, and friends. Scott and his wife loved to travel together, whether it was to sporting events, the Dominican Republic, or to Las Vegas. His summers were spent in the back yard lying around the pool, teaching his nieces and nephews how to swim. He enjoyed fishing with his buddies and was proud of winning the Wounded Warrior Project Fishing Tournament by catching the largest rock fish.

Scott is survived by his loving wife of twenty-six years, Emma Jean (McAfee) Snavely; his two proud children, Kimberly A. (Snavely) Sheaffer and husband, Brandon D. of Falling Waters, West Virginia and William "Cody" Snavely and companion, Megan Row, both of Keedysville; a sister, Vicki Cowger and husband, Thomas of Ada, Oklahoma; a special aunt, Mary Louise Hillard of New Holland, Pennsylvania. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, brother and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and his loving companion puppies, Tucker and Roxy.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, William F. and Helen O. Weaver; his paternal grandparents, Benjamin H. and Grace H. Snavely; and his mother-in-law, Edith E. McAfee.
