Robert Motter

Robert L. Motter, 87, of Thurmont, Maryland, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, July 31, 2017,  surrounded by his family.Born on April 1, 1930, in Emmitsburg, MD,  he was the son of Charles Russell Motter and Mary Elvina (Eyler) Motter.He attended Emmitsburg High School and joined the service in August of 1950 as a Diesel Mechanic.  He was honorably discharged in 1953.Robert worked at the Freeman Shoe Company located in Emmitsburg, MD until 1986 when the company closed.  He then worked at the American Legion Post #168  and enjoyed his 7 1/2 years there until his retirement. He and his wife enjoyed traveling across the country twice, including Hawaii, Alaska, Panama Canal and the Caribbean.He loved working with his hands, his talents were endless.  He handcrafted furniture, loved to draw and was a devoted family man.  He loved his family and will be deeply missed by everyone that had the opportunity to meet him.  He was a gracious man to everyone he met and was committed to the Lord.He looked forward to the time spent with his "boys" starting their own "Home Brewing" which begun the annual Motter family picnics that will never be forgotten.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years,  Frances Patricia Motter (Eyler); daughters, Bernadette K. Wudarski and her husband Ray,  Cynthia Lee Painter and Robin Diane Motter and her companion, Ronald Bunting; sister, Margaret Wilkinson and her husband, Jim; grandchildren, Julie Swope and her husband Gary, Natalie Little, Victoria Hildebrand and her husband Brad, Charles Painter; great grandchildren, Cody Wetzel, Miranda Rosso and her husband Andrew, Haley Little and Thomas Campbell and several  nieces and nephews.  He is predeceased by his siblings, Mary Needy, Richard, Joseph, George, Jennie, Harry Motter; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to recognize Frederick County Hospice, "His Angels", St. Joseph's Ministries and Frederick Memorial Hospital and cancer center.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, August 4, 2017 at Stauffer Funeral Homes,  104 East Main Street in Thurmont, MD.A celebration of Robert's life journey will take place at 1:00 pm on Saturday, August 5, 2017, at the Stauffer Funeral Home.  Pastors David and Hope Reynolds will officiate.

Interment will be at Blue Ridge Cemetery in  Thurmont, MD.
