Mrs. Rebecca ( Fifer )Williams,{Becky} , 61, ended a long struggle with Pancreatic Cancer on Sunday, October 19, 2008. She was in hospice care during her last weeks and went to eternal sleep at home with her family at her side. Surely she is now back in the presence of our Lord in Heaven. She is survived by her husband of more than 41 years, Larry Williams.

Becky was born the fourth of five children to Mary Fries Fifer. And the late Dr. Jesse S. Fifer at 3:42 a.m. on October 27, 1946 in Union Memorial Hospital, Baltimore.

Surviving beside her husband and mother are her daughter Jessica Fachler and husband Michael, her son Joshua Williams and his wife Christie, four grandchildren; whom she adored, Mark Fachler, Allyson Fachler, Matthew Williams and Tyler Williams, 2 sisters Rogina Isaacs and husband Ray, Robin Nelson, a brother Jay Fifer and wife Virginia, a brother-in-lawRonald Wachter. Becky will also be remembered by numerous nephews, nieces and many caring and loving friends.

She was preceded in death by a sister Rachel Wachter.

At the age of nine months the Fifer family left Baltimore and moved to the village of Buckeystown. It is there where Becky would spend her childhood. At the age of 15 the family moved once more to a new home in western Frederick.

Becky has been a life long member of the Church of the Brethren and has participated in many church activities and committees, most recently she has dedicated herself to the church of the Brethren Disaster Ministries helping rebuild homes and caring for children of victims.

Becky attended the two room Buckeystown Elementary School, West Frederick Jr., High and Frederick High. Following high school she attended Bridgewater ( VA ) College and graduated with at B.A. degree in sociology. While at Bridgewater she participated in varsity tennis and field hockey. She later attended Hood College and earned a Masters in Education specializing in math and science.

As the consumate career educator she recently completed a thirty year tenure with Frederick County Public Schools. Her first two years were at Parkway and Walkerville Elementary Schools. She then took leave to stay at home and raise her two children. It was during those years that she also worked part-time teaching at the Glade Valley Church of the Brethren preschool. When she returned to the school system she spent the next 28 years at New Market Elementary retiring in June of 2007.

During her teaching career she was a member of FCTA, MSTA and NEA. Following retirement she joined Frederick Co. Retired School Personnel. She also was granted lifetime membership in PTSA. To all those who met, knew or worked with Becky she was the one who would always step in to help someone in need. She could always be relied on for support and caring whether professionally or personally. While always assisting she would do her best to avoid any recognition in the form of awards or accolades. She truly was an example of an Angel sent to Earth to demonstrate how to live and share love with others.

Visitation: The family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Friday, October 24th, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Services: A service to honor and celebrate her life will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Dr. Paul Mundey, Rev. Dr. Mike Watson and Pastor Brian Messler will officiate. Interment in Glade Cemetery.
