He was the beloved husband of Susan L. (Linville) Gorospe and father to Tracy Lynn Staines, married to David E., and Kelley Loraine Winslow, married to Curtis E. He was the proud grandfather of Danielle, Christina and Michael Staines and Amber, John and Haley Winslow.
John was born and raised in Washington, D.C. He was the son of Dionisio and Emma Gorospe and brother to Ernie (Carolyn) Gorospe, Issy (Jim) Calland, Linda Jump and Mary Williams. He was the beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews.
John was an Air Force Veteran and served in the Vietnam war. He retired as a HVAC service manager. During his retirement, he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed woodworking, fishing, arts and crafts and volunteering. He had a special place in his heart for his dogs, Jackson and Jamey.
He will be missed by all who knew him.
A Memorial Mass will be offered at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 27, at Saint Michael’s Catholic Church at Poplar Springs, 1125 St. Michael's Road, Mount Airy, Maryland, 21771, with Rev. Michael J. Ruane as Celebrant. After Military Honors, a luncheon to follow in the church hall.
