Mrs. JoAnne Haden Perry, 72 of Ijamsville passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Thursday, August 21, 2014. She was the wife of John Christopher Perry. They were married for 42 years.
Born November 27, 1941 in Washington, DC she was the daughter of James and Mildred Haden.
JoAnne graduated high school from H.H. Arnold High School in Germany (for Military Dependents) in 1959. She studied at the University of Maryland, Wiesbaden Germany and graduated from secretarial school. She worked as a secretary for AID in 1960's and deployed to Turkey. On her return JoAnne was a stay at home mom.
She was later a secretary for Roy F. Westin Company, owned Colesville Copy Center and then later was a receptionist for the JC Penney Hair Salon in Annapolis were she retired from.
JoAnne enjoyed gardening, especially tending to her roses. She was an avid reader and loved watching TV. She loved watching football, specifically the Redskins. She also enjoyed traveling, camping, water skiing, sitting in the sun, playing cards and eating crabs. JoAnne loved giving gifts and she always put so much thought into buying, wrapping and finding the perfect gift for everyone.
In addition to her loving husband she is survived by John Perry, Jr. and wife Dawn, Karin Martinez and husband Edward, Julie Rhodes and husband Alex and Kevin Perry and Jena Leslie, 11 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and her two beloved dogs, Sami and Niki.
She is preceded in death by a son, Christopher Rhodes.
A memorial service celebrating JoAnne’s life will be held on Thursday, August 28th at 2:00PM at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 East Ridgeville Blvd., Mt. Airy.
