Mrs. Gertrude "Gertie" A. Brown went home to our Holy Savior with her family by her side on Friday, March 23, 2012, at Northampton Manor Health Care Center, Frederick.
Born on April 8, 1921, in Johnstown, PA, she was one of five children to the late Nick Taranto and Rose Bua Taranto She was predeceased by her husband Anthony "Tony" Brown, owner of "Tony's U Bar" of Johnstown, PA
She was also predeceased by siblings Angelina Christenson, Sister Rosalinda Taranto ASCI and Joseph A. Taranto; survived by Rosemarie Taranto Scornaienchi.
Gertie was an active resident of Creekside at Taskers Chance for many years were she was directly involved in many of the social gatherings. She will be missed by many of her friends.
She leaves behind five children: Dr. Francis N. Brown and his wife Rosemary of Ijamsville, MD, Rosemary G. Peterson of Thurmont, MD, Louise Spencer of Tampa, FL; Mary Dorian of Dunedin, FL and Toni Marie Brown of Palm Harbor, FL; five grandchildren: Pamela A Brown Grunwell and husband Kevin, Jeffrey F. Brown and wife Tamara, Kristina M. Brown Nicodemus and husband Joshua, all of Frederick, MD, Heather Dorian Dominie and husband Larry and Meghan Dorian Blatz and husband Dan all of FL. She leaves behind five Great grandchildren: Allison Grunwell, Cole Grunwell, Olivia Pearl Nicodemus, Lucas Dominie and Julia Rose Nicodemus.
A Memorial Mass officiated by Reverend Michael Jendrek, Pastor, will be held at St. Ignatius of Loyola Roman Catholic Church (Country Church) in Urbana, MD (Urbana Church Rd. 21704) on April 24, 2012, at 11:00 AM. Interment services officiated by family member Deacon Sam Cammarata will be held at Saint Anthony's Cemetery in Johnstown, PA on April 25, 2012 at 11:00 AM
