George Jacob Bonebrake of Mt. Airy, Md., died on Monday, September 26,
2011, at the age of 90. He was the husband of the late Thelma Marie
Bonebrake. He was predeceased by his brother, Charles Bonebrake and a
daughter-in-law, Edith (Tootie) Bonebrake. Mr. Bonebrake is survived by
his daughter, Phyllis Garnand and husband Barry, son, G. James
Bonebrake and wife Denise, son, John Bonebrake and daughter, Priscilla
Andachter and husband Ron. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren
and eight great-grandchildren.
He was born on August 25, 1921, in West Frankfort, IL. He grew up in
Missouri and Illinois and in October of 1941, he moved to Washington,
D.C. where he accepted a position with the FBI. In December of 1941,
he entered the Navy and was commissioned an Ensign in 1945, after
attending Notre Dame Un., and then was married to Thelma M. Gowin.
After his discharge in 1946, he returned to the FBI and worked as a
Latent Fingerprint Expert. He became Supervisor of the Latent
Fingerprint Section and retired from the FBI in 1978. He continued to
do consulting work in latent fingerprint investigations.
Visitation will be held on October 1, 20ll, at the Stauffer Funeral
Home, 8 East Ridgeville Blvd., Mt. Airy, Md. from 12-1 pm, followed by
funeral services at 1:00pm. Interment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Mt.
Airy, Md.
