Roy Eugene "Gene" Haddock, 78, of Gaithersburg, Maryland, passed from this life on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at his home, a place he truly loved, in Gaithersburg, MD.

Born on November 5, 1940, in Washington, DC, he was the son of Roy Haddock and Gladys (Sours) Haddock Miller.

Roy attended Gaithersburg High School and began his work in the tire industry, learning all aspects of retreading tires for heavy equipment. Gene perfected the craft over a 50-year career, and took exceptional pride in teaching the nuances to younger workers, who all looked up to him. Gene’s technical prowess extending to wood-working, where he became an exceptional craftsman building curios, bookcases, whatever form of cabinetry a friend or family member requested, and of course bird houses for all the kids he knew.

Gene was the consummate Washington Redskins’ fan - if it had a Redskins logo on it, Gene collected it. He took such pride in the team, especially enjoying the “hogs”, Riggo and those terrific Superbowl winning teams.  Gene was a kind-hearted soul, who throughout his life would go above and beyond to help those young and old, even attempting to assist the nurses and care-givers who were there to help him periodically over the last 6 months.
