Franklin White, Jr.

Reverend Franklin E. White Jr., was born in Frederick, Maryland, on March 21st in the year 1936, to Franklin White Sr. and Marie White. He was the brother of Robert, Patsy, Stephanie, Robin, and Bonnie, all of whom he loved immensely. At a young age, his Grandmother Perkins began to teach him about Jesus Christ and the Love of God. He was baptized at the early age of 9, in the year 1945. In his adolescent years, Frank attended Frederick High School, where he found a passion for baseball, football, and sports in general. Frank started playing baseball for his high school and received his letter which he kept in his collection of memorabilia throughout his entire life. The greatest passion he found, however, was his love for Darlene Masser, an eye catching Majorette, who at the time was 14, while Frank was 16 years of age. "Dolly" was “Sonny’s” everything, and he was sure to love her until his last breath.
After his high school graduation, the Navy was a sure choice for the next chapter in Frank’s life. Stationed out of Norfolk Virginia, he was honored and proud to serve on several aircraft carriers from 1955-1959 for love of country. During his time in the Navy he married, his lifelong sweetheart, Darlene, on June 9th, 1956. Two years into their marriage, Frank and Darlene welcomed their first born child, Randy Alan, then 3 years later, their second child, Sandra Jeanne, in 1961.
Shortly after he was honorably discharged from the Navy, Frank began working odd jobs at a Frederick brick company, a laborer at Kehn Furniture Company, and eventually moving into his career with the City of Frederick. After taking a leave of absence from the city, Frank and his small family moved to Dover, Delaware, where he assumed his role of Pastor of his first church in the year of 1975. After planting the mission work in Delaware, Frank and his family then moved back to Frederick, Maryland where he resumed his job with the city. He started at an entry level position as a surveyor, and was often called upon to plow snow from the roadways. Then, because of his diligent hard work ethics, he ultimately became the head supervisor at the Department of Public Works, from which he retired from in 1976.
Frank was appointed to the position of Pastor, in that same year, of the Damascus Church of God, in Damascus, Maryland. Hundreds of families were impacted through Frank and Darlene’s ministry and many of stories are still being shared today. In 1992, they moved to Florida to accept the position of Pastor of the Thonotosassa Church of God. They eventually joined the staff of the South Tampa Christian Center, which is now Without Walls International church, where their son Randy, was founder and Senior Pastor, in 1993.
Frank's kind-hearted and loving personality was displayed in every facet of his life: Whether starting the "Young at Heart Ministry" at Without Walls International Church, visiting the sick in the hospital, or working at the Frederick Rescue Mission, he always operated with integrity and cared about the down and out, and those which had been forgotten by society. Frank and Darlene’s ministry at the Manhattan Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility was dear to his heart. They always made sure the residents were ministered to, visited, and cared for with compassion
Pastor Frank White was able to travel to such places as; the Bahamas, Hawaii, and his life long dream of attending the Bull Fights in Spain. As much as he enjoyed watching his beloved baseball teams, the Baltimore Orioles, the Tampa Bay Rays, and his favorite football team, the St. Louis Rams; nothing demanded more attention then his spoiled cocker-spaniels, especially “Maddison”. The Reverend Franklin E. White was a man who was committed to, and loved Jesus Christ, his precious wife, Darlene, his dear children, Randy and Sandy, and his entire family. In his own words, "I have lived a good life, and I am ready to go!”
The family will receive friends at the International Community Church of God, 123 Byte Drive, Frederick, MD., Saturday, July 20, from 12:00 noon until service time at 2:00 pm. Rev. Dan Brockman will officiate.
