Florence Percival Wright, 89, passed away at her home in Mount Airy, Maryland on March 26, 2017.
Florence was born on December 26, 1927, in Ioka, Utah to Charles and Mary Percival. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1945 and served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Great Lakes Mission from 1950 to 1952. She married Kenneth Dean Wright in 1953 and together they had four children: Clifford Dean, Lucinda, Martin Charles, and Julia Ann.
Florence worked for Montgomery County Public Schools for 32 years, retiring as cafeteria manager for Richard Montgomery High School in 2000. She enjoyed cooking for friends and family and was well known for her rolls. She loved socializing with friends and participated in monthly potluck groups for years. She loved any road trip, but especially trips to Maine or to buy fruit from nearby orchards. Her flower garden was her pride and joy. She was a cherished matriarch and friend. She provided a listening ear and words of wisdom to those she loved. She was an active member of her church and was devoted to her grandchildren.
Florence is survived by her four children, 20 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Kenneth and her beloved cat Smokey.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 am- 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 7255 Ridge Road, Mount Airy, MD 21771 on Friday, March 31, 2017 where services will follow at 11:00 a.m. Bishop Christopher Safsten will officiate.
Interment Parklawn Memorial Park.
